Established in 2020, the Territorial Hospital Redevelopment Team (THRT) focuses on regenerating the Territories Health Care Facilities. We aim to provide a comprehensive resource to display to the community upcoming and ongoing reconstruction, advancements, and redesigns of the Territories Healthcare Facilities.
How THRT Came About
Almost two and a half years after Hurricanes Irma and Maria, the V.I. Government Hospital and Health Facilities Corporation Board voted to take a crucial step in rebuilding the territory’s Health Care System.
The Hospital and Health Corporation, otherwise called the Territorial Board, is the governing body of the Juan F. Luis Hospital, the Roy L. Schneider Hospital, the Charlotte Kimmelman Cancer Institute, and the Myrah Keating Smith Community Health Center. The board is comprised of members from the two district boards.
The Territorial Hospital Redevelopment Team was established to facilitate the development of a fully integrated hospital system, ensure consistent standards, and oversee all design and construction processes for restoring storm-damaged hospitals. The Team comprises healthcare, financial, FEMA experienced, engineering, procurement, and construction professionals. The Territorial Hospital Redevelopment Team supported the JFLH North completion and transition, as well as Juan F. Luis Hospital, Roy L. Schneider Hospital, Charlotte Kimelman Cancer Institute, and the Myrah Keating Smith Community Health Center.
